Two days is the sweet spot for Murree — enough to enjoy the Mall Road, ride up to Patriata, and take in the Galiyat without rushing. Here is a relaxed plan.
Day 1 — Mall Road & the ridge
Drive up from Islamabad in the morning (a scenic climb via Bhara Kahu and Tret) and settle in. Spend the afternoon strolling the Mall Road, with its cafés, viewpoints and evening buzz. Catch sunset from Kashmir Point or Pindi Point.
The Islamabad to Murree taxi page has the route details, or take the ready-made Murree + Patriata 2-Day Tour.
Day 2 — Patriata & the Galiyat
Head to Patriata (New Murree) for the chairlift and cable car, the highest and greenest point above Murree. If you have energy, loop through the forested Galiyat — Nathia Gali and Ayubia — before returning. Our Nathia Gali & Galiyat Day Tour covers that route in full.
Practical tips
- Layer up — even in summer the evenings are cool at altitude.
- Weekends are busy — travel midweek if you can for a calmer trip.
- Winter means snow — a capable vehicle and an experienced driver make all the difference.
A comfortable Prado handles the winding roads nicely, with the car waiting for you between stops. For the wider region, see our northern areas guide.
