Around the twin cities

City Taxi in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

City taxi work is point-to-point travel inside Islamabad and Rawalpindi, booked rather than hailed. You name the pickup, the destination and the time; we confirm one fare for that journey and send a vetted driver, so the cost does not move because it is raining or because it is 8am.

What it covers

Inside city taxi

Each part below is booked through the same conversation — you do not need a separate arrangement for any of them.

Point-to-point rides

The everyday booking: one address to another, quoted before the wheels turn. Cross-sector runs like G-11 to the Diplomatic Enclave are priced as a single trip regardless of how the traffic behaves that morning.

Scheduled and recurring pickups

A standing slot for the same journey — clinic appointments, a morning commute into I-9, a Friday run to the same mosque. The driver is assigned ahead of time so you are not re-booking each day.

Twin-city crossings

Islamabad to Rawalpindi and back, through Faizabad or down Murree Road, treated as one fare. The route the driver picks is his problem, not a reason to revise the number afterwards.

Wait-and-return trips

Errands where you need the car to stay put — a passport office visit, a court date, a bank appointment. The driver waits and brings you home rather than releasing the car and leaving you to find another.

Who books this

Who city taxi is for

For people who live here and are tired of the lottery — the professional who cannot be late to a Blue Area meeting, the parent doing a fixed school run, the expat without a car, and the visitor staying a week who wants the same reliable driver each morning.

What it takes off your plate

  • App fares that double the moment the weather turns or the evening peak starts
  • Drivers cancelling on you once they see how short or how awkward the trip is
  • Arriving at a hospital or office appointment late because no car would accept the ride
  • Explaining a sector address repeatedly to a driver who does not know the grid

Why it holds up

What you are actually buying

The grid is not a guessing game

Drivers working this service know the sector layout — that F-11 Markaz and F-11/3 are different places to be dropped, and that "near Jinnah Super" means F-7 Markaz to a local.

Weather does not change the price

Monsoon afternoons and December fog are exactly when app pricing spikes hardest. A fare agreed with us in the morning is the same fare when the rain starts at five.

Nobody cancels on a short trip

Because the driver is assigned by us rather than bidding for the job, a two-kilometre hop inside G-9 gets the same treatment as a run out to the motorway.

The same names come back

Regular customers get regular drivers wherever the schedule allows, which is how a school run or a daily commute stops feeling like a transaction with a stranger.

Step by step

How city taxi gets booked

Four steps, all of them on one WhatsApp thread. There is no account to create and nothing to pay before the trip is confirmed.

  1. Say where and when

Send the pickup, the drop and the time. A sector and a landmark is plenty — full postal precision is not required for us to place the car.

  2. Agree the fare

One figure for that trip comes back, and it does not move afterwards. If you want the car to wait somewhere, say so now and it is priced in.

  3. Driver assigned and shared

You get the driver’s name, number and vehicle before pickup, so the car pulling up outside is one you were expecting.

  4. Travel and settle

Pay the agreed amount at the end. Nothing is added for traffic, for a diversion, or for the time the car spent stationary at Faizabad.

The vehicles

Cars we use for city taxi

Most city work goes out in a Corolla, which is the right size and the right price for one to four passengers. The APV and BR-V come into play for six travelling together, and the Civic when the destination is a client office rather than a supermarket.

Pricing & inclusions

What the city taxi price covers

Included in the quote

  • One fare confirmed before the journey starts
  • A named, vetted driver in a clean air-conditioned car
  • Fuel and any tolls on the route chosen
  • Reasonable waiting at the pickup while you come down
  • Door-to-door service rather than a nearest-main-road drop
  • A WhatsApp thread you can reach mid-journey

Not included

  • Long stationary waiting that was not agreed when the fare was set
  • Detours to additional addresses added mid-trip
  • Parking fees where a venue charges for entry
  • Intercity legs beyond the twin cities, which are quoted separately

How the figure is set

City fares vary with distance and how long the car is tied up, so the number is set against the trip you actually described. Ask about a regular weekly pattern and we will price the pattern rather than repeating an individual quote every morning.

Coverage & reach

Every sector on the CDA grid, plus the Pindi side

Islamabad runs on a lettered grid from D through I, wrapped by the societies along the Expressway and joined to Rawalpindi at Faizabad. We keep a page for each of those 90 areas because a G-6 pickup and a Ghauri Town pickup are not remotely the same journey.

Customer feedback

Where the reviews are

We do not publish sample testimonials, buy ratings, or attach a customer’s name to copy we wrote ourselves. Nothing appears in this section until a real passenger has completed a real booking and told us we may share what they said.

That means this space is empty rather than persuasive, which we accept. A business whose entire offer is “the price we tell you is the price you pay” cannot credibly start by inventing praise for itself.

Good to know

City Taxi — your questions answered

Is this cheaper than using a ride-hailing app like inDrive?

Sometimes cheaper, sometimes not — the honest difference is predictability. inDrive works on a bid model with no fixed fare, so what you pay depends on which driver accepts. Our figure is fixed when you book, so it does not climb during rain, rush hour or a fuel-price week, and no driver declines the job because the distance is short. (Uber and Careem no longer operate in Pakistan.)

Can I book the same driver every morning?

Where the roster allows, yes, and most regular commuters end up with one or two familiar drivers. Tell us the days and times you need covered and we build the schedule around them instead of assigning whoever is nearest.

How quickly can a car reach me if I have not pre-booked?

It depends entirely on where you are and what is on the road at that moment. Central sectors are usually quick; the outer societies and the far side of Rawalpindi take longer. Message us and you will get a realistic time, not an optimistic one.

Do you go into Rawalpindi, or only Islamabad?

Both, as one service. Saddar, Cantt, Satellite Town, Committee Chowk, Chaklala Scheme, Peshawar Road and Bahria Town Rawalpindi are all normal destinations, and crossing at Faizabad does not create a second fare.

Can the driver wait while I finish an appointment?

Yes, and it is one of the most common requests we get for offices, clinics and government departments. Mention the likely wait when you book so it is built into the price rather than negotiated awkwardly on the pavement afterwards.

Are the drivers vetted, and can a woman travel alone comfortably?

Drivers are known to us rather than anonymous sign-ups, and you receive the name, number and vehicle detail before the car arrives. Many of our regular city passengers are women travelling alone, and we take that responsibility seriously.

What if my plans change after I have booked?

Message the same thread. Times can usually be moved at short notice, and cancelling well before pickup costs nothing — there is no card on file and no automated penalty for changing your mind.
