On moving day, confirm the crew and timing early, do a full load and item count before the truck leaves, and check every room and cupboard is empty at the old home before you lock up.
Confirm the arrival time and crew with the mover the night before, and make sure the truck can park close to the door — arrange any gate pass or reserved space early so the day doesn’t stall at the entrance.
Finish the last-minute packing, keep pathways and stairs clear, and set your “open first” boxes, documents and valuables to one side so they travel with you rather than on the truck.
Count boxes and major items as they go on, point out anything fragile or heavy, and do a final sweep of every room, wardrobe, balcony and bathroom before locking the old place. Note the electricity meter reading if you are closing the account.
At the new home, direct boxes to the correct rooms using your labels, check the item count matches, and inspect large furniture and appliances for transit damage before the crew leaves so any issue can be raised on the spot.
